Schimpff's
is happy to offer free tours of the Candy Kitchen as well
as the Candy Museum. Watch candy being made on century-old
equipment and enjoy browsing amidst thousands of pieces of
American candy memorabilia. Tours are available to groups
of up to 40. (Special arrangements can be made for larger
groups.) All tours must be booked in advance. Call 812/283-8367
and ask for Jill Schimpff. By booking the tour in advance,
you are assured that candy will be being made at the time
of your visit. The Candy Demonstration Area, Chocolate Dipping
Room, and Candy Museum are always open for viewing during
normal store hours and you are welcome to visit at all times.
However, without a reservation, you may not see the actual
candy making process. Schimpff's is a small mom and pop business
and does not have a set production schedule - the candy makers
cook what they need when they need it!

The "standard" booked tour includes a guided tour
of the Candy Museum as well as a live demonstration of a small
batch of Schimpff's famous hard candy (generally Red Hots)
being made on antique equipment. Tours can be booked for times
between 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM weekdays and 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM Saturdays.
Although the tours take about 35 to 40 minutes, it is suggested
that you plan some extra time so that you can enjoy the original
Candy Store and eat in the Deli Lunch Room. And...don't forget
to order a chocolate soda at the1950s Bastian/Blessing Soda
